Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Preview

Everyone is talking about the new Castlevania game, now that Konami has revamped the franchise in order to make it more mass-player-friendly. As we reported, they even got Kojima himself to give input into the title. Well, 1up has posted their preview of the game, and they compare it to Metroid, actually. David Cox, the producer of the game, knows that people will see the game as yet another action game, but it is still based in the Castlevania universe, he says, and it is more than just action. There is platforming and exploring, but there is also the need to revisit earlier stages and grab upgrades that were not accessible previously. He compares the game to Simon’s Quest, one of the most popular non-standard Castlevania games of all time. It certainly sounds like Konami may have successfully turned Castlevania into a top franchise for mass consumption. Even so, you know that the hardcore fans are turning over in their coffins…
